Where the Imperial Garden Meets the Horology
Some dials tell time. This one tells a story one written in the language of Ottoman atelier.
Tulips and carnations, the sacred flowers of the imperial court, unfurl across a deep crimson ground, their gilded stems curling in the sinuous arabesques of classical Rumi ornament. Every tendril, every petal, is a reference to a civilization that elevated beauty to a form of devotion.
At the heart of the composition, a mother-of-pearl subdial floats like a full moon above the garden, its luminous surface carrying blued-steel hands and Arabic numerals in the restrained tradition of the great pocket watch makers. Below, exposed and unhurried, a flywheel. rotates within its gilt cage, here framed by the same ornamental geometry that once adorned the walls of Topkapı.
The polished steel case, smooth and architectural, neither competes with nor apologizes for what it holds. It is simply a frame for a masterwork.
